I read some of the other comments about this....I agree there really are only a few people who should be giving feedback. On the other hand I find it interesting to see other people's swing since I've only seen a few people besides Todd/Moe. Sometimes watching somebody else do something and giving feedback actually helps the teacher more than the student.

This video was taken right after I changed my backswing...I know my lower body is wrong(again), I rotate back a little then I don't really move forward.

OMG!

Dan,

I met you maybe eight weeks ago and we talked about your swing. You had just started trying to swing like Moe. It was a good start but you had a long way to go. You then got help from the Internet Academy and have been working on things.

Your swing is awesome. I can not believe that a few weeks ago you were asking me for advise. I would guess there are still things to improve. It is hard for me to see detail on YouTube because it goes fast and stopping frame by frame is hit or miss. Overall, you are a million times better than just a few weeks ago. The speed of your progress is amazing. You may be my new hero.

Russ

P.S. I'm taking all the credit for encouraging you on the Graves path.

Hey Russ, thanks.....it may look good, but it shows how important proper lower body movement is. I played 36 holes this past Saturday at a pretty difficult course (Geneva National in Lake Geneva Wisconsin)....My ball striking was inconsistent. When I relax and let me lower body move forward I get pretty good results....but sometimes I think about it to much and my head moves forward or I'll do the opposite and think about hand/arm movement and my lower body gets still (like in these videos). I'm going to work on this all winter. But I have a ways to go before I can just "grip it and rip it".

The good thing is I feel I made great progress this summer...between the total game overview DVD's, the 1 day school, the Internet golf academy and the knowmoe site I guess it was hard not to improve!! When I started this swing in May I was probably shooting around 115-125. I shot a 90 2 weeks ago...and my drives were not that great. Oh, and our meeting was the start of all this....you quickly recognized my hands were too high and my posture was incorrect. Plus it was great seeing someone in person hit the ball well using Moe's swing.

If you get V1 working you can view youtube videos directly in V1...it's great!

Looks like another lifelong friendship is being forged thanks to the funny swing of a true savant. If I wasn't such a macho guy ,it would bring a tear to my eye.

Dan,
Congrats on your progress.

Russ,
Way to carry the banner, you are a true MOENIAC.

Dan, It looks like if you can repeat that swing and develop a good short game then scores in the 90's will be in the past.

Dan -- your Utube swing looks great to me. However, I'm a long way from proper use of the Moe swing and shouldn't be making comments on anyone's swing. Unfortunately, I'm still waffling back and forth between GGA and CG. Somedays I have good luck with GGA, and other days not so good. You are a great example of someone who is making great progress with the Moe concepts. Thanks for posting your swing progress.

Allen,

Why the waffling back and forth? Even as I read your post saying you're going back and forth between CG and Moe, I think I hear a tone on your post that says, "This is a bad idea, but..." What's comes after the "but?"

Sure, dbmeyers may be exceptional in commitment and perhaps natural skill. But look at how easy his swing looks after a few months. It looks like he could repeat it over and over. Like Steve said, a bit of short game and putting and this guy will start scoring low all the time. If he'd waffled between swings, he'd be nowhere.

Here's my sermon: There are a lot of ways to hit a ball with a golf club. I say pick a model and try to copy it. Pick a CG guy or gal if you wish. If you do, pick one. No surprise that I'd suggest you pick Moe as your model instead. But either way, the fastest way to good results is to stay on one path toward one model. Waffling is no way to get from where you are to where you want to be.

As my kids might say, "I'm just sayin."

Allen, Russ makes some great points. When I was doing CG I never really had a clear idea what I was doing...I wasted money on lessons and training aids. I have spent some money on this swing...but I feel like I'm at the point where I can analyze a lot myself using video...plus I'm a member of the knowmoe site. I tend to use Todd more as a model than Moe simply because I have higher quality video of him. So I would go all in with this swing....i truly believe it's the way to go.

Russ and Dan M. -- thank you both for your replies to my post. I realize that moving from swing type to swing type is getting me no where fast. I've played this silly game for a lot of years, and have ingrained a lot of bad habits that are very difficult to change. I've now convinced myself that I must pick a swing and stick with it in order to improve my game and get rid of the bad habits. I have a couple of GGA DVD's which I am starting to review and have gotten setup with the PVC drills, which I am working on everyday. I read this forum every morning, and appreciate all the suggestions and help that other Moe swingers submit.

Thanks again, and good luck on your swing progress.

Dan I just looked at them with V1 and compared to Todd. Really fantastic. My only oomment is you seem to have the club head not centered under you head at address, hands too far forward. But WOW what a swing, very still head and really nicely on plane at all the check points. Maybe on follow through slightly off plane. Very nice, good work.

Maybe moving the hands to center the club head would get your body more on the lead side at address.

Thanks Hal....I didn't realize I was doing that! I think my hands crept forward with all clubs. Thanks again for the feedback.

Thanks for all the nice comments.....once I get my lower body consistenly moving like moes/todds I expect to be a solid ball striker. I think I almost have the "yips" of some kind...when I tense up or think about certain hand/arm movements my legs stiffen up. Strange. If you watch my face on view you'll see what I'm talking about. My short game has improved drastically since I went to the 1st day of graves school in July. I have some pretty lofty goals for next season, but I'm also realistic...after all this is golf. My wife thought this insanity was done with the miserable weather here in Chicago...but it's just beginning!!
