I purchased the new Graves Grips when the school was in CT. I gave them to a local club builder who installed them although he said that he had problems following the instructions. I know I saw a good video on the pay site about how to install these grips and it didn't look difficult to me.

As a suggestion, it might be usefull to put these instructions up on you tube in video format or otherwise make them available in a free area. In that way we could refer club builders to look on line for the instructions. This could make it much easier for us folks in the boondocks to get them installed.

Just a thought,

Best Regards,

WEY,

Looks like these instructions are at the bottom of the grip purchase area. See bottom of page;

I know about the sheet that came with the sheet, but was thinking that a video would be better. It could help for the instruction impaired to actually see it done semi live. It took my guy a couple of months and he complained about how difficult it was. I only hope that he did it right and I don't have to start over with new grips.

I do not build clubs or install my own grips. I've had it done for me several times. I did just have a Graves grip installed on a new club at Golfsmith (had the hole set done last fall). I was able to talk with the guy doing the work. He's not the first guy that I've had question the instructions. Here's what I learned. They are unsure about the instructions that the lower hand gets more wraps than the upper hand. They think I'm explaining it backwards. I assured him that what I want is more wraps on the bottom hand. I also remind them that red logo up means right handed. I also let them know that the alignment aids are critical and that I will be using the grip marking to square the face. I want to be sure that if I hit this club off-line, it is my fault and not theirs. He had no issues with the alignment aids and even commented that there were very easy to follow. He did this one club while I watched. It took him about one minute.

So, I believe the instructions are clear, your club builder may simply think that you and the instructions are wrong. Sure, a video would help him but only if he believes the video.

Hello. Your club builder must not be to good. I ahd a club builder do all my clubs in a half hour, and my club pro did a new club in 2 minutes just with my verbal instructions. He did a great job. Just try someone else. That amount of time was rediculas. Matt

Some golf shop jockeys are not experienced in additional tape wrap - lacking understanding of grip buildup. Instead they hope that you will choose a conventional grip from the shop's inventory - and they will install as is. On the other hand, club builders understand grip customization which why it is important to ask for someone who is a club builder. I had some Grave's grips successfully installed at Golf Galaxy a year ago by a club builder who worked at the store. When I returned recently for re-gripping, Golf Galaxy had made some changes including the elimination of the club builder. Instead the fellow working the checkout said he could re-grip, but I was not confortable with his seemingly confused understanding of my instructions and the instruction sheet that came with the grips. Instead I took my clubs to a friend recommended club builder - and for $3.00 per club - the outcome was perfect.
