Todd, I have a couple questions. First one is that i'm having a little pain/discomfort just below my left hip. It really feels uncomfortable just after impact going into follow through. It's hard to keep knee flexed through impact because of this. Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong? Also, I'm wondering what your swing thought is from the top of the backswing starting down? -Thanks in advance
There might be a hip joint issue regarding your lead hip...does it hurt at any other time other than when hitting golf balls?
As far as swing thoughts - I truly train not to have any however, when learning the swing, I want you to think of moving the arms starting with the lead knee. This is the downswing motion - arm motion is the thought, lead knee is the start.
No, it doesn't hurt any other time. I may be sliding too much not concentrating on keeping my head over my trail knee. When It hurts the most is when I feel off balance and hit hooks or shanks
That could definitely be a problem as we do not teach a slide as the only lower body move. Remember, the knee moves under the head due to proper lower body motion (some rotation) not just a slide.
