Hard bunkers in which you can not get the club under the ball (through the sand and not touching the ball at impact) - you must use the chipping method to get the ball out. Ball mid to back in stance - hitting down, hitting the ball first. Shot will not go very high. If you have a high lip to get over - may need to go sideways, etc.. like they do in the British Open.... Finally, talk to your course about the bunkers.... many courses designed bunkers with high lips, etc.. but with medium to soft sand to get the ball out... if the sand gets very hard (hard pan), the lips of the bunkers make it almost impossible to play.
