 what type of epoxy to use for setting shafts		  New Topic  Reply to Topic

I bought a new graphite shaft for my driver. and I want to put my shaft in myself. can I use regular 24 hr apoxy or do I need a special apoxy? and how far into the hosel do I push the shaft tip? once the shaft is set, do I add more apoxy to hold the ferule in place or do I just push the ferule down into the excess epoxy around the shaft, and wait for it to set?

Big Moe,
Use 24 hour shaft epoxy. Bottom the shaft into the hosel. Don't forget to clean the inside of the hosel and abrade the tip. You will find the ferrule will be pretty tight. I push it onto the shaft before the hosel and use the head to push the ferulle up the shaft. Wipe away the excess epoxy. You may want to check out Golfsmith.com they have a video demonstration free on their web site. They also detail the procedure in text.. Good luck and have fun.. Timmy D

I'm not sure just any 24 hour epoxy is best. I always using shafting epoxy. It is available in small packets from GolfSmith or any place that sells components. Also, if they have it, I would also get some shafting beads to mix into the epoxy but this is optional. It helps square the shaft into the hosel. Also be sure to clean out the hosel of any old epoxy and sand the tip of the shaft(about 3/4") so the epoxy gets a good grip.
Hoping for success without hard work is like trying to harvest without planting.

Don't know. There is no Golf Town in Windsor/Detroit but if they sell components they should.
