Scott and Fuzzy,
We went through the same thing on the "old" NG Forum, but when the new Single Plane Swing Forum was created, with Moderators, we were much better able to keep things civil. Keep up the good work.

I have heard nothing further from NG on the SPSF, but am hopeful it will be up and running shortly.
On a related subject, now that NG is a public corporation and the link between the official NG Board and the SPSF has been severed, there is the distinct possibility that the SPSF will be discontinued. So - if you enjoy the SPSF (I know many of us participate in both that forum and this one) this might be a good time to let NG know (via the "Ask NG" forum on the NG board would be a good place) that you value it and that it keeps you connected to NG.
Thanks,
Steve

I've been following these events closely and I am not a betting man, but I think the chances of the Single Plane Forum coming back are about 30%. I don't think it takes 2 weeks to change servers, I think if NG was going to change servers and impact the availability of the forum, then they should have announced it before doing it. The NG Corp forum also did not answer the questio Steve posted about the future of the forum. Instead of just answering his post that the forum was being worked on, he just answered the he was going to forward the concern to the new CIO of NG. Bottom line...not looking good in my opinion. (of course, this is all just speculation on my part).
To be honest, it would not surprise me if NG decided to shut the forum down. Basically, the majority of the conversation relates to other methods (HSS and Surge) so how does this benefit NG? They have another forum now and it's looking like they are going to moderate it just like this one to ensure that only topics related to NG are in the forum. Anyways just speculation here, but that's the way I see it.
If NG does decide to shut the forum down, it would be a shame to find out about it afterwards with no warning. I don't go to that forum that much anymore, but a lot of other people did and to just shut it down without any notice is not very cool.

Mojo,
It's a good thing you are not a betting man :)
The following was received from Dave Langlands, the new CIO of NG:
The current outage is caused by a recent upgrade from IIS5 to IIS6 on the server that hosts the Single Plane Swing forum. This server is also planned to be the home of our new website which is slated for re-launch in June. I appreciate your patience while we finish up the transition. Our hosting vendor is currently investigating the database connectivity issue which is at the heart of the problem with the SPSF.
Dave also indicated that further information will be provided as available.

Mojo,
Not wrong, just pragmatic! And remember, it's not over until the horizontally-endowed lady sings.

I am only basing my opinion based on what NG has done in the past. If I remember correctly they removed the regular chat forum from the NG site without any warning to any of the members. One day we logged in and it was gone for good. Later on NG informed us that they were creating a separate forum for us to continue our discussions and then the single plane forum was launched several days after or maybe even weeks? I honestly don't remember. By the time we got the new forum all the history was already gone from the last one.
This is why it would not surprise me if it happened again. If I have a negative opinion of it then it's solely based on things I have seen from NG in the past (as it relates to the forum ). Having said that, I am glad that the forum is back.

I also remember the history, and that was the meaning of my "it's not over until...." comment. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait until the dust settles.
On a related topic, it's sad to see the NG-GGA bickering on the "official" forum. Some of us seem to have forgotten that this is a game, we are playing it for fun, and we are all SA golfers.

Steve -
I agree with you that we are all SA golfers and we need to try to stop the bickering. Have a good night.

Guys, NGC is in the business to make money and now being public, there will be more pressure on them to produce earnings. The deal with Callaway will most likely diminish their club business which was producing high margins for them inspite of overall losses. Their new business model is to focus more on instruction. Who is going to be their main competitor in that area? GGA unless some new partnership is forged which I have absolutely no knowledge either way if anything is in the works. Like Steve, I hope all works out well for both parties since I still have a strong sense of loyalty to NGC because they, not the Graves, brought me to NG. Then NGC brought me to the Graves so there's the value chain in my mind.

Hi, Mojo. A refugee here from the singleplaneforum.
I was startled to be confronted with an attack on jjwin as one of the first postings I read here. Although Jim's interest isn't strictly Graves party line, my impression of him is that he is a reasonable fellow.
I naturally gravitated to "The Duffers Retreat" link because the description suggests open conversations. While I first saw Todd Graves on the original 1995 video and I have attended an NG school, my game isn't lock-step with either Todd or NGC. It's more eclectic and incorporates other ideas as well.
Are other, non-TGGS, comments even tolerated here....eg putting styles people have tried with success; swing thoughts; approaches to the game that don't get a pre-approved Graves stamp on them?
I was hoping that a segment of the site would be flexible. Not that I care to commercially promote anything at all, but I was frankly taken aback at how pointedly restrictive (defensive?) some of the posting and moderation seems to be. I know this site is sponsored by TGGS, but inhibiting free flow of ideas isn't always very healthy.
I say this in a spirit of good will. If open conversation about innovative ideas is discouraged here, I would like to know up front. I'm not anti-Graves in any sense (I like Todd's presentation), I'm just Graves-neutral because I have never been to one of their schools. Still, I enjoy sharing ideas and consider myself to be more NG than CG.
Thanks for your reply. And, if this is a Graves-authorized-only site, can you recommend some other general golf chat rooms to me? Thx,
JWW

Just Woods and Wedges,
I will let the moderators give their opinion regarding the questions you bring up in your post. I will point you to another single axis site: http://www.network54.com/Forum/72052?it=0 . It has been a very long time since I was over there, but it may be what you are looking for.

Thanks, MoPars.
I'm low octane on all this. I genuinely like to read the posts of most NG'ers and that's why I logged on here.
Would love to contribute to Duffers Retreat postings from time to time. It was just sounding a little religious to me so I wanted to hear an opinion on that aspect of the site from the moderators.
Thanks for the referral; I'll take a look at it.
Hit 'em straight.

MoPars,
I didn't initially recognize the link you provided. I've been there before; too aggressive and emotional there most of the time. Way too much testosterone.
I'm looking for something with more accepting, collegial interplay; new ideas, yet not a cult.
Thanks anyway for the info.
