You are incorrect that this is a "strong grip". What are you relating this to???? Strong vs. weak, etc... In very simple terms the V of the lead hand should point to between the logo on your shirt and chin and the V of the trail hand should point toward your trail shoulder. The V is formed between your thumb and forefinger.

This is absolutely not a strong grip. In fact, many would consider "neutral". This is the anatomically correct position of the hands on the club to square the face of the club at impact without a "manipulation". If the club is in a "strong" position the club face will come to impact closed, if "weak" position, club face will come to impact open. Then manipulation is required to prevent a closed face or open face through impact.

Anything but strong.

One knuckle on the upper hand is weaker, two knuckeles is neutral to stronger, correct? with my ahnd on the club as suggested in the videos, I can see two knucles at least.

Number of knuckles you see does not work.

What size grip do you have on the clubs?

Does it match your hand size?

Are you looking at the knuckles when the club is against the ball or when the club is set back behind the ball??

Too many variables to try and figure grip by looking at knuckles.

(Graves Golf),

I have been meaning to send you this update for quite a while I know you asked me to keep you updated. Finally, at the end of my 2nd golf season since my (2) day lessons in April 2008…..

I had to send this email.

Last year I made the trip to Oklahoma City as skeptical as anyone could have been about drastically changing their golf swing … I kept thinking I could fix it conventionally.

I came back to Wisconsin and put my mind to try and learn this swing and stick with it. I spent basically all of April 2008 and ½ of May 2008 just practicing and try to learn the fundamentals of this swing.

I started this process by hitting rock bottom shooting 102 and thinking I have had enough of this game I can’t deal with it any longer. I was so frustrated I wanted to basically give up the one sport I can still play. My handicap when I started this process was easily a 16 but capable of ballooning to a 20 no problem.

After dedicating the practice time that Todd stated it would take to make a swing change I started to play in mid May 2008….. my 1st score out was a 94 and boy was it a struggle…..I remember thinking wow I am not doing any better. However, I kept working and all of sudden a couple 85’s ….. by mid June I shot a 81 !!! My lowest score ever…. And thinking boy I left a couple strokes on the course that day….. Finally, July 2nd ,2008 the break through score a 77 !!! Went on to shoot a total of 3 scores in the 70’s in 2008 . My handicap dropped from a 16 to a solid 11 and starting to feel good about my game. People started to take notice and they started to ask ?’s about how different my swing looks but couldn’t believe how crisply my shots were being hit!!!

1st Season Huge Success ….

Now the reason I am writing this email … my 2009 Golf Season.

Since, I live in Wisconsin you can imagine my golf season ends in November and doesn’t start until April leaving me almost 6 months of blah!!!!

Well this past Winter 2008/09 I took the opportunity to really key in on my fundamentals. I will be the 1st to admit that Todd you would probably want to make changes to my golf swing as I am not a perfect student but I will tell you I use most of your principles in my golf swing. The PVC drill for me has been a real breakthrough drill for me…. When I start to get out of whack…I go right back to it and sure enough the next range session I am back or at least close to it.

I started this 2009 golf season very optimistic but with a totally different agenda. Feeling pretty good about my irons and woods .. .I focused on my game from 100 yards and in and boy I think it made the difference. I used to dread the 80 yard wedge shot but now I crave it … Once again, my swing has evolved into a version of yours but boy my roots and success go back to your lessons!

Let me wrap this thing up ….

My home course is a 72.3 / 137 slope – 6750 yards … so by no means a push over course. Actually it is rated the #6 course in the state.

42 rounds played this golf season

13 rounds in the 70’s

1 round of 70 on my home course Par 72

Year End Course Handicap- 7

Yes … I can now say I am a single digit handicap golfer. I will never forget you telling me in our sessions.... “Troy there is no reason with your athletic ability you shouldn’t be breaking 80 on a regular basis”

I am not sure how much lower I can go but I am going to try. I think a 5 is possible if I can really hone in my driver.

I just wanted to take time to recognize the lessons you gave me last spring and the video lessons you went over with me. Best thing is I have 2 of my friends who used to kill me on the course watching your DVD’s and starting to Swing like Moe! I told them I will get them the basics but you need to go to a school and work with Todd.

BTW I love that Board … I just bought one and can’t wait to get out on the range with it .. Awesome training aid for guys that want to grove in the right stance and ball position.

Thanks Again and Good Luck,

Troy Wolf

Kevin

A big thank you from me for "daring" to share your frustrations. The quality of the replies on this thread is staggeringly high - brilliant stuff. I've really enjoyed reading them.

As someone new to this approach, I've been amazed at the sheer quantity of detailed instruction available in the past webinars on the knowmoe site. However, as Todd says in the June 2009 webinar, it's all just info unless you apply it and make sure you get video feedback to ensure that you actually are applying it. I think the approach of modelling Moe's swing and using the video feedback process to copy it more closely must yield improvement. If what you see on the video is exactly what you see in Moe or Todd's swing and your ball striking is still no good then and only then is it not for you. Until that day ........

Good luck and thanks again.

John

John:

If what you see on video is the same as Moe or Todd - and your ballstriking is still no good - your clubs suck.

Cheers

Nice one, Hack! LOL. Actually, you are very probably factually accurate in that statement!
