"Little Moe" Signature School August 2008 Instructional Newsletter Issue #80 Howdy Everyone, Been in Oklahoma for a few weeks now - starting to talk like an "Okie" again. Our busy travel year has started to slow down a little now... with schools in OKC in 2 weeks and not back to Orlando until the end of September - it has given us time to work on some of our projects... FYI - for all those on the west coast - we will be in San Diego in mid October - the only time we are on the West Coast each year - coming up in about 2 months. We've also added additional hotel options for the San Diego schools. Click HERE to see the list. Spreading the word Help us share the word about Moe Norman with the golf world!

Thank you for your help in spreading the word about Moe Norman's simple and effective swing! The 4th Annual Moe Norman Memorial When: September 27th & 28th, 2008 Where: Eagle Creek Golf Club - Orlando, FL - GGA's Orlando home Who: YOU!! Cost: $429 / golfer through August 15th, 2008. Registration will then become $459 / golfer
Early Registration Price Ends this WEEK!
It's hard to believe it's been 4 years since we said goodbye to Moe. And we are proud and honored to host the Moe Norman Memorial Outing in his honor. Now only 2 months away, the 4th Annual Moe Norman Memorial will continue the tradition of gathering to honor the legend, and the man who has allowed us all to become better ball strikers.
Whether this is your first time, or if you've been every year, don't wait to reserve your space. This event has become a great reunion each year of Moe Norman fans. Many friendship's have been forged at the "Moe", and we expect this year's event will be no different.
Now to the golf itself. We get many people each year who say they don't want to play because they feel like they aren't "good enough". Friends, this simply isn't the case. This outing is PRIMARILY about meeting fellow Moe golfers, making lasting friendships, and experiencing Moe Norman's legacy. We (GGA) look at it the Moe Memorial is more of an outing/gathering rather than a competitive tournament. This event each year only expands Moe's legacy, and you should be part of it.
Both days are a scramble type format - one day a "scramble" and the other a "scramble". You play on a team with other Moe single axis golfers - format is set up to have a lot of fun and meet other Moe single axis golfers. We have putting, most accurate drive, closest to the pin, and many other contests during the events. Again, all are set up to enhance everyone's enjoyment, but more importantly, to honor Moe and his legacy. Following/preceding play each day, we will have lunch and hold ball striking and short game clinics for all participants.
To register for the memorial, simply visit our Moe Memorial Page on our website. If you have further questions, please email Scott Renfrow at scottr@swinglikemoe.com.
We look forward to seeing you at the 'Moe'!

Testimonial - "What has Moe done for you?" From: "David T.." <t***2000@yahoo.com> Subject: Hole-in-One To: timg@swinglikemoe.com
Hey Tim,
I have to let you know.........Last year I bought a set of Adams irons/hybrids from you and had you set them up for Moe's Swing.....Those clubs have really helped my ball flight......
If you remember my story....I have MS and have used Moe's swing and golf as a means to get me out of my wheelchair and and do something positive with my life and have had great success. Today I recorded my second Hole-in-One in 4 years of using Moe's swing and the methodology promoted by the Graves Golf Academy.
Last year I shot my first round under-par, shooting a -1 /71 at SandCreek Golf Course in Idaho Falls. So ...... 2 Holes-in-One and now my next goal is to shoot in the 60's. Moe's swing didn't just change my golf life.......it brought me out of my wheelchair and into the sun.
Thanks Moe ...... and thanks Tim, Todd and company,
Sincerely,
Dave T. New GGA Grip - First Batch is going FAST!!! The Graves Golf Academy is proud to announce the release our new grip - a grip that is USGA conformed, can be used on all clubs and has markings so you will be able to put your hands on your clubs exactly like Moe gripped his own clubs. You can see the grip, installation instructions, grip fitting chart and much more at: http://swinglikemoe.com/index.php?&pr=GGA_Grips
How did this grip come to fruition?
About 4 years ago, Todd (Graves) put a plan in motion;
First part of the plan: Develop a grip training club so everyone (whether they are with us in person or 1,000 miles away can put their hands on the club correctly and feel "Moe's Feeling of Greatness" everything he/she grips the club. He produced the grip, and it has been BY FAR our "best selling and most popular" training product of the GGA - if you don't have one yet - just ask the 1,000s that have it.... ask them what it has done for their game. Imagine - every time you go to the range, pulling out the grip training club, hitting shots with "perfect" hands on the club. You can see more on our Training Grip and Club of our website (short video about the grip/club).
Second part of the plan: Produce a video teaching everyone how to hold the grip training club and how to grip the club "just like Moe" so everyone can then work on other fundamentals (i.e. the stance, set up, take away, leverage positions, etc..) to swing like Moe rather then always "fighting" their grip. This was done and with every training grip club order - the training video/DVD is included.
Third part of the plan: Produce a grip that can be used on the students clubs, is USGA conformed and is a "good looking and good feeling" grip that has the same markings as the GGA grip training club (without the molding). So, now EVERY student can train with the GGA Training Grip Club and then match the same markings on their clubs (with the GGA grips) and grip their own clubs just like Moe - perfect EVERY time.
The third part of the plan was completed early this year, the grips have arrived - they are AWESOME. They are already on our clubs, many of our demo clubs, and hopefully all our students clubs soon.
Fourth part of plan: A video on our website (free) - how to install the grips and tips to using the grips. (Will be out VERY soon..).
To see more about the GGA Transitional Grip, click HERE or on the image below to visit the web page dedicated to the grips. By the way, in ONE grip, both right AND left handed golfers (yes lefty friends, you read that correctly) can now feel Moe Norman's grip.
As you see in the picture, the markings are similar to those on the GGA Training Grip Club - shows where the lead hand "pad" should be, where the thumb of the lead hand should sit, where the trail hand pinching should occur, the positioning of the trail hand, etc.. This grip works for overlapping, 10 finger and interlocking grips as our training grip club was set up to accommodate.
Finally - hopefully by now, everyone reading our etips knows the importance of a good hold/grip on the club. Without a good hold/grip on the club, you will be building continual compensations to make up for your grip - and I guarantee this will create poor/inconsistent golf.
We are hoping by creating these new grip "tools" they will aid everyone and help short cut the process of developing their swing to Swing Like Moe!!!!
COST OF THE GRIPS:
$8.95 per grip
$99 for 14 grips (grip your entire set (except putter). Also gives you 1 extra grip to experiment with grip sizing for your personalized grip size.

1.5 Drill - GGA Webinar #2
by Todd Graves The 1.5 Drill To see the GGA's latest webinar (with the 1.5 drill): http://www.knowmoe.com/slm/content.php?id=5 Speed, Path, Angle of Approach and consistency. This describes the most important moment of a golf swing: Impact. All great golf swings return to impact correctly. This is the importance of the 1.5 drill. The 1.5 drill is just another way that we, the Graves Golf Academy, have worked with the PVC drill and the training club to show you how to deliver the club into impact. But I will also let you in on a little secret. The 1.5 drill teaches you timing - the exact timing of Moe Norman's golf swing. Let me ask you a question. Since you have been working on Moe Norman's simple golf swing, have you been trying to shorten your golf swing or feel that you take the club back too far? If you have seen yourself on video, I know that when you see your golf swing you consistently say "I can't believe I took it back that far, I can't feel it." The reason you can't feel it is that the swing is happening so quickly that to shorten your backswing, you can't think that fast. The 1.5 drill is a solution for this problem. Here is how it works: The training club with the extension revolves around the pivot point to position 1, as you pass position 1 and begin to move half way between position 1 and position 2, the hands begin to hinge. You will notice that the extension will point directly at the ball. As you notice this happening, you must begin the downward motion of the hands. As you begin the downward motion, the club moves through position 1.5 to position 2. The AMAZING result is that you actually reach position 2. Why does this happen? Because the golf swing is dynamic - moving. It is your hands and arms that move the handle of the golf club. The hand and arm movement initiate all movement of the swing and body. Therefore, when you begin moving the handle and reach the positions where the club is on plane (position 1.5), the hands are still moving. Once the club is on plane then it is a matter of returning the club into impact with speed. This "timing" is exactly why, if you start swinging at the same time as Moe, Moe will reach impact before many of you will reach the top of your backswing. The timing of the golf swing is "handle movement" which means the timing of the golf swing is directly related to how you move your hands. So, learn the correct movements of the 1.5 drill and get out there and Swing Like Moe.
