Nice job - only comment I'd make is to tell people to be careful cutting grips off graphite shafts - as even with a hook blade if you get the sharp part turned toward the graphite it's easy to nick the shaft.
Also - does Momma know what you've been doing in her sink?? |
On the path - not always on the fairway |

The instructions (Grip Installation Sheet) discuss tape wraps but it does not sufficently make it undertstood that these are "extra" wraps. However your "Recommended Grip Size" site is clear stating that the wraps are "extra" wraps. It might be a good idea to correct the Grip Installation Sheet.

Tim,
Great video. I really have struggled in the past. Felt like I was wrestling alligators to get the old grips off and new ones on. You make it look so easy. I probably haven't used enough solvent as the new grips seem to set up too quickly and I find I can't get the new grip fully onto the shaft before it "sticks". I've got a set of your grips and will now put them on my clubs.
regards, Jim |

Cute Kevin -
That is the conference room of our Academy here in OKC..... you need to make a trip out to see us....
Good point - use plenty of solvent - it is cheap and don't try and use minimal.... the more you use the easier it is to get the grips on and more importantly - to adjust once they are on.
It looks easy because it is very easy. I was taught to put grips on clubs when I was 12 (working as shop help at a local course)...
Let me know if anyone has additional questions,
Tim

Great video, and what a coincidence, I was just searching for some tips before I put my grips on, and watched it last night. It is very informative and easy to follow. I was mainly concerned about getting them on straight, so they matched with the club face, and you addressed that really well.
Kind of like one of those books "installing grips for dummies" edition.
Thanks Ray |

Great video instructions Tim. Being the "anal" engineer that I am, I have carefully measured each piece of tape, carefully applied it smoothing out the wrinkles, Used a laser to align the tick marks on the grip to the club face, etc... Boy have you made me look silly. LOL Took me several hours to do the set. LOL
Question. On the Irons, the tick marks should align with the Leading edge of the club face "right?", how about the woods and hybrids?? |

From: JOHN L. <jml4x4@*****.com> Date: Friday, October 16, 2009 2:28 AM To: Tim Graves <timg@swinglikemoe.com> Subject: Grip Solvent Size: 4 KB Hey Tim
I work at a range here in Sandy UT and we use paint thinner for our solvent when doing grips works fine and has not had any problems. Have done all my grips with it works Great. Also you might pass along to the folks you can buy a rubber shaft holder that goes in a bench vise to hold your clubs when regriping; or you can cut a rubber mouse pad it also works in a vise never mars the shafts even graphite just don't tighten too much. Just some fyi stuff. John L.
