I just attended a 2 Day Single Plane Experience in Warrenton, VA and was very pleased with the school. Clay Farnsworth is an outstanding instructor. I have at least ten points/insights that I could not get from watching DVDs and practicing by myself.

I will miss Mr Farnsworth as he is heading south to Florida in the not too distant future.

Looking forward to receiving my LH Short Game trainer and Eye-Line Putting device to go with my impact bag and LH Alignment Ball Trainer.

Have a definite list of things to work on going forward. Hoping to provide a positive game improvement report by the end of this season.

I have not gotten an opportunity to play much the past two years. Just shot a not so great 106 Andrews Air Force Base East Course before taking this school. 97 has been my best performance in the past.

In a follow up to how I am doing since the school. It has been five weeks since I did the school. I have been very diligent with getting over to Hilltop Golf Range and practicing the full swing, short game, and putting. I have played about six rounds since the school. Today I am happy to report that I shot a 91 for 18 at the Fort Belvoir Gunston course from the forward tees (5500 yards, 65.6/16 rating). The best part was getting paired up with a couple that could not believe how straight my shots were going. Have not been this happy leaving a golf course EVER! Plenty of more work ahead.

Rich, I'm going to be brutally honest with you.

If you were ready to leave after 40 minutes, you should have.

Those 40 minutes were no doubt full of negative thoughts, "I can't do that", "I won't try to change that part of my swing", and so on.

The people who make progress on their swings are the ones who are willing to spend time in the weeds. Hell, if Todd tells me to do something, and the result is a 40 yard grounder but he says it looks better, I would hit a bucket of 40 yard grounders to get the feel of it.

The last school I was at, one of the students was already low single digit. When you're that good already, you have a lot invested, and a lot to lose if things don't go well. The kid embraced change, and when he left, his "death miss" was no longer in the picture. I wouldn't be surprised to see him reach his goal - which was to qualify for the US Open.

I've also seen my share of people who expect that just showing up, without changing anything, is somehow going to make them better by osmosis. It's not going to happen. The old joke about the definition of insanity - which is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.

You said it took two days to get "your" swing back. I would submit that if you were happy with your swing - and it doesn't look like Moe's on video - you were in the wrong place that day.

Fairways and Greens,

Kevin

Hitman,

Keep up the good work. Over years of working on Moe's swing, I'm getting closer, and I can see what I need to change when I'm off. Consistency of Moe as model, year after year, has me playing better golf than I could have imagined before my first introduction to Graves Golf.

2VIOLINS,

Too bad you didn't have a better experience. My first experience was a 5-day camp. I thought Graves would tweak my (then) "Natural Golf" swing learned by a few lessons. 40 minutes in to a 5-day camp, I knew I had two choices -- commit 100% to what Graves was teaching which included changing my grip, setup, take away, downswing, followthrough... or try and adapt some of what they were planning to teach and expect modest improvement at best and potentially keep my inconsistent results. I was a player that could shoot 85 one day and 105 the next. That first day at school, I went "all in" and was the only student at that camp that quickly did so. Other came along as days progressed. It struck me as odd that some many were unwilling to let go of their old "swing" ideas. "I can't change to that grip." "I'm not going to set up like that."

I don't know what the one-day session is like. I have been to 5-day, and alumni camps. I found multi-day schools to the best way for me to learn what I need to take my game to a new level. Did I regress after that first camp? You bet! Replacing my old swing habits was hard. It took a few months before things didn't feel foreign to me. Now, I can not even remember my old grip. I'm not sure what I would have expected after just one day. Obviously you "learned" something if it took 2 days at the range to get your old swing back. Perhaps you gained something that you will keep in your short game or putting. Best of luck.

Russ

Guys,
Shot an 80 today with a triple bogey. I have moved and am in a great play situation where I show up and can play 3 days a week with a bunch of guys. My work situation is perfect for that so I am playing a lot and the scores are coming down. Everything clicked today except for the one blow up hole.

I continue to submit video and I think the latest recommendation that I start the transition with the lower body a little earlier has made a huge difference. So the video program is crucial to my ongoing effort at improvement.
