I have been working out of my home office this week, and this morning I played an old Moe tape-"Moe Norman Golf's Journeyman" that I have not looked at for over a year.More importantly,I have not watched this tape since my last school and lessons from TNT.Amazingly ,it was as if I had watched it for the first time even though I have watched it lots and lots of times before.

One interesting point is that the moderator Eric Alpenfels, who I believe is or was head instructor at Pinehurst, points out that Moe prefers the overlaping grip. You can clearly see Moe overlapping in the close ups of his hands. So much for the 10 finger grip arguement.

The most facinating part of this viewing and the reason for the post is the perspective I viewed with.Since my last instruction my ball striking is really getting better and better.I actually believe that I am beginning to swing like Moe-of course not as well as Moe,but like Moe nevertheless.Therefor as I watched Moe I saw myself in my minds eye doing similar movements.I really feel that this has increased my understanding of the SA-Moe swing immensely.Therefor I am swinging with a conscious competency that I lacked befor. This is very exciting.

To all of you that have struggled as I have with golf,I offer the following encouragement.Never give up and never doubt the simplicity and validity of Swinging Like Moe.If you stick with it and follow Todd and Tim's excellant instruction it will get through.Man I am really beginng to enjoy the wonderful journey called SA golf. Thanks GGA for the terrific gift of good golf, and thanks Moe for your genius!!

Chuckles,
Where could I get one of these tapes ? I too find it extremely benificial to watch Moe, and to hear what He has to say about his swing. I have the golf channel episodes with Craig shankland and the DVD from Todd. I fear I am wearing them out at a rapid pace.My endearer is to obtain Any video on Moe I can .
I also want to thank you and others about talking of the PVC drill. This drill has been Invaluable in my understanding of my swing.. I had not been doing the drill with balls as markers. I had wasted all this time doing the drill wrong.. NOW I feel I am really on the path.. I love this fraturnity of friends.. T.

The most important thing that I have learned from the Graves dvd series, Principles of Golf, and all the information on Moe that is out there is...the more I watch and practice and play, the more that I learn. I see new things as I develop each time I study the dvds. I also enjoy this forum and look forward each day to seeing how other Graves golfers are doing.

Timmy,
I would take Vinnie up on his generous offer. I tried google-ing the video and can't find it.It was distributed by "the bootlegger" but can't find it on their web-site.However Natural Golf does sell several Moe videos that are also good.

Glad you are finding success with the PVC drill.I find it indespensible for my game.By the way did ypu ever try the Bonic glove-mine helps me.

Chuck..
Have not tried the glove yet. It is looking like I may not have arthritis after all. A few weeks ago I was rubbing my finger cause it helps it to feel better. I could feel what seemed like a stone. Thinking it was calcium. I rubbed it harder to break it up, and a whole chunk of skin and meat came peeling off. Boy that smarted.. Now my Doc says it have have been a piece of metal or something that was working it's way to the surface.. Hand is better.. He said it could take up to a year to totally recover. Good news is that I can grip the club better now.. Plan a wait and see course of action..
Thanks for ALL the feed back From everyone.. Vinnie.... Sent you an E-mail... Thanks... T.

I have the VHS version as well but would like to get it in DVD format. I am afraid the tape might wear out or break. It's good to know the VHS is still available, tho.

In reference to Moe's overlapping grip. In 1999 I sat behind Moe in one of his demonstrations. He brought up the 10 finger grip and said it was the best way to hold the club. He said it was "stupid" not to hold the club in all 10 fingers. I then asked him if he ever used a overlapping grip. He said, "yes and I was stupid too". Those were his exact words. Personally I don't know which is best, but I use the 10 finger. I did video that demo.

ChiChi,
I know that Moe tried to be a team player when representing Natural Golf and they do promote the 10 finger.Nothing wrong with Moe doing that by the way.Regarding which is better to me it is a matter of personal preference. In other words neither is wrong.

I prefer the overlap because I feel it unifies the hands better to facilitate club head speed. The risk with 10 finger is that your hands can spread too much if you are not careful. On the other hand if done correctly 10 finger is fine.I played that way for 2-3 years before I converted to overlap. So I guess whatever works is fine.
