Hello All. I think this is my first post in this section as I usually avoid discussing golf clubs and leave it up to Tim. In the past few years, I have not paid much attention to my golf equipment but a common plague of mine was the driver. I hated all drivers and found I the titleist 990 to be suitable but still had trouble into the wind.

Recently, using the Callaway fitting system, I have had the opportunity to put together a combination of drivers and found that the Callaway Hyper X driver was an an amazing driver for me leveling my ball flight into the wind. I have been raving about this driver. Just wanted you to know that I think this driver puts an amazing flight on the ball. If you have a chance to demo one, I would like to hear your comments.

Well, I received the Hyper X Tour model driver today which I won at our local golf show. It has a stiff flex shaft with 10.5 degrees of loft...as usual Todd you are right (do you ever get tired of hearing it!!!).

Took a couple of holes to get used to it. Have been playing a Titliest 905R 10.5 degree for the past couple of years with great success, however, this new driver blows it away. Easily in the range of 25-50 yards longer on every drive I hit today and just as straight. I played a practice round hitting 6 balls off of every tee(3 with Titliest, 3 with the Callaway). The Callaway was longer on every single shot except for 2 miss hits(not the drivers fault).

Take Todds advise and give this club a try.

The Hyper seems to launch a little lower than comparible lofts on the market. Meaning - if you are recommended for a 10.5* driver or higher, you might want to look at the Hyper 11*. Most big headed drivers tend to launch higher than the Hyper - seems the Hyper creates a little more overspin on the ball - which will in turn produce a little more roll.

100 mph - looking at a 10 to 11* Hyper.

I have just been informed today I won a HyperX driver at our local golf show. It will be sent to me and I must take what ever loft and flex they send but am looking forward to giving it a try!!!!

Todd, How do you find the trajectory vs the loft...higher or lower than what you were used to? Just want to be prepared in case they ask my prefered loft. My swing speed is right around 100mph+/-.

Todd...
Just got home from a demo day event here in Asheville, NC. I have to agree with you about the Hyper X...it was best of show for me. It has a hyperbolic face and at 10 degrees stiff...I was carrying it about 260. I hit just about every new driver out there, but kept coming back to the Hyper X. The face looks square at address, but if you look at the face from the side, you can see the hyperbolic roll that it is named after. I have a tendency to draw the ball...sometimes hook; but I could set me hands on the grip the same way and get a great straight or slight draw flight.

Todd..
Do you see the same thing with the Hyper-X fairway woods ?? What is your take on them?? T.

Hey Todd, I have the old Big Bertha 454 Ti and love it because of the square face, was wondering if the Hyper X is square as-well. I go to the Callaway web site and see that 11 degree driver I used is listed as 1 degree closed - will this affect the swing at all

I have put the club together with various shafts from our fitting system. I have found it to be the head that is so good because of the type of spin it produces. I would have to talk to the Callaway engineers to find out why and I am afraid they would have to "Take me out" of they told me.

Todd,
Just curious, was it the fitting system helping you find the best fit or is the something specific with the head or shaft etc.
