In the recent email newsletter you had an excellent section on the Hitting Position (Position #3) as being the key for all good ball strikers. The collage of pics from the various lessons was really interesting. I have one question....

In this position -- the trail elbow in front of the trail hip and the club shaft parallel to the ground, is the club shaft on the line from the target ball to the ball location 5ft back and 1ft in as in the PVC drill or is it directly on the target line? The various pics seem to indicate the line of the shaft is on the target line but this just may be a perspective.

Also, how far is the trail elbow from the body at this position? Does it touch the body at all or is it a couple of inches away?

thanks for the great feedback.

You will see more in this month's (May) etip that will help you.

The club in the downswing (at position #3), when parallel to the ground should be the same angle as the angle between the ball at impact and the ball 5 ft back and one foot inside. Or in other words, slightly angled inside the target line. This will produce a straight ball to a slight draw. The more you angle inside the more you will hit the ball from inside/out and the more you will draw the ball.

The pictures also show exaggerations as to how to get to that position, as you MUST exaggerate the feeling to master the position.

As many pros say - you must feel like you are changing a mile to change an inch.
