NEW LOOK FOR ETIP:

Hopefully everyone received our "new look" etip the first week of December. Scott has been working very hard to update our database, get our new "more effective" newsletter format out to you and anyone interested. If you didn't get our newsletter the first week of December, we don't have your current email address in our "new" system. Please go to www.swinglikemoe.com home page and click on newsletter sign up. It will walk you through the sign up process (very easy) and will make sure everything is updated in our system.

If you aren't sure if your information is updated or not, you can register for the newsletter on our home page www.swinglikemoe.com and it will tell you your status.

As of our NEXT ETIP - we will be using our new format for all emails - meaning, you need to make sure you information is updated..... wouldn't want this to be the last instruction etip you get...

UPCOMING EVENTS;

Quick FYI -

As we stated a few months ago, Natural Golf (NG) headquarters has started selling our instructional material and will be selling spaces in our schools/camps. Many of you may have already seen our instructional material advertised through NG email/mailers.

Here is the kicker.... NG is scheduled to start booking spaces in our schools/camps in January. Great for us, but this will GREATLY limit the number of spaces available in our events. We are currently at 75% capacity for all our schools/camps and some are already sold out.

If you are interested in attending a GGA school/camp next year, might consider enrolling in the next couple of weeks. We are sure many will sell out by mid January (if not already).

Again - thanks to all those who attended our events in 2007 and past years, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone next year!!!

WINTER STRETCHING

We have been receiving quite a few emails asking our advise for winter workout / stretching recommendations. I have asked Dave Predzin (GGA instructor) to write a tip for our winter etips about this topic. For those who haven't met Dave, he is definitely the expert in the GGA family on working out, stretching, etc.. (In fact, Dave has competed and finished (more than once I think) the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii). To see more about Dave you can go to our Meet the Instructor page on our website.

Hamstring Stretch
(by Dave Predzin)

One of the issues we deal with in each and every school is trying to put students into the correct address position.  Poor flexibility makes this a difficult task.  We always work within the capabilities of the student but the bottom line is tight, rigid bodies have a hard time getting into the correct position, not to mention swinging the club correctly.  This is the motivational part - increasing your range of motion will improve your ability to setup correctly and swing the club more efficiently and powerfully.

The first stretch I want to share with you targets the hamstrings.  You need some wall space (no hanging pictures nearby) and you may want to have a pillow on-hand.  Take your shoes off but wear a pair of clean socks (you'll understand in a minute).  From a sitting position next to the wall, lie on your back, turn your body and place your heels on the wall.  Straighten your legs and move in as close to the wall as you can.  Use the pillow if you feel any strain in your neck.  You should feel a moderate stretch in your hamstrings.  Inhale slowly to the count of 4, pause for a second and then exhale slowly to the count of 4 and repeat this for 10 - 15 breaths.  Use the slow, deep breaths to relax into the stretch.

After the first set you should feel your hamstrings loosening up a little.  If you feel you are up to it scoot in a little closer to the wall until you feel a little added tension in your hamstrings and repeat the 10 - 15 breaths one more time.

The goal is to be able to do the stretch with your bottom and the back of your legs completely against the wall.

CALLAWAY DRIVER GIVE AWAY

For all those that don't know yet - we are again giving a New Callaway Big Bertha 460 Driver away the end of January. If you have not already registered (or not sure if you have registered), you can do so at: http://swinglikemoe.com/index.php?customernumber=2283552828663&pr=Free_Club_Fitting&=SID

Hint - Registration is done by email address(es) - if you would like to register more than once, every different email address you enter, enters you in the contest additional times...

PRACTICE TIP:

This past week, I took my son to a local college baseball camp. He had a great time and learned a lot. During his "training" I had an interesting conversation with a couple of the coaches. One of the coaches has produced numerous baseball training videos (mostly for adults/parents to help teach their children) and has done a lot of work on the "process of learning". The interesting comment he made was the mistake most make when they watch a teaching/training video. They watch the entire video assuming they will absorb all the information and be able to process/learn/teach the information this way.

Todd also posted an interesting chat in the forum on this same topic last week (wanted to share with everyone).
Thought this post could potentially help those watching training videos over the winter months and working on their games.

Title: RESULTS..
By: Todd Graves

Well. It is the end of the year. Time for me to put in a few words about my observations and do a little COACHING.

I want to talk about RESULTS, expectations and the possibilities for 2008.

If you new to the forum...welcome and welcome to the many conversations that we will have as you pursue a better golf game.

One thing that I would like to address here is what you can expect to happen from watching DVD's and practicing as well as instruction.

Watching DVD's will only help you if you pay attention and practice the information on the DVD's. Yes, I know this sounds obvious however, this is like when I purchase one of those computer desks which I have to assemble. I get home, open the package and start assembling without reading the directions. Forgetting to pay attention to the detail, I get half way through the assembly and I have parts left over and for some reason, the desk doesn't fit together.

This is what I see people do with our instructional DVD's. Those of you who have our DVD's might or might not realize how much goes into the production of the information. We pay attention to detail in the DVD's so that it can HELP you if you apply the principles.

You must pay attention to the details.

Also, how do you know you are doing what is being taught on the DVD's? Are you guessing or are you getting some sort of feedback that what you learned is what you are getting. Yes, you must start paying attention to the information and then make sure you are actually achieving the information.

You will get results if you do what the videos teach...I guarantee it.

Finally, you should expect that it is going to take your attention and a little effort to change. This is normal. What I do recommend however, is that you only worry about the mechanics of the golf swing at first. The goal is to get the club moving correctly at first. This is a huge step.

After you get the fundamentals and the club moving correctly, you can focus on results of the golf ball.

This is my suggestions for now. Watch the video, take a few notes on what you want to accomplish in your practice session and then make sure you accomplish that in your practice.

Feedback is welcome.

Feedback on forum:  http://fuzz2moe.forumco.com/topic~TOPIC_ID~7359.asp

As always - please, please PRACTICE WITH A PURPOSE.

Good Luck,

Please let us know if we can do anything else for you.
