Posted - 08/07/2004 : 18:49:14 Well, I guess we missed the British open. So I will run a contest for the PGA, which starts next week.
Here are the rules. Please choose your picks for the top three finishers and rank them 1, 2, and 3. Then place your guess at the exact number the winner will finish either over or under par.
* * *
Example:
1. Fuzzy Briggs 2. Scott Renfroe 3. Tim Graves
The winner will finish 12 under par.
* * *
To add your entry into the contest simply reply to this post. If you want to participate you must have your entry posted by Thursday morning (8/12) by 7:00 AM.
The winner will be the person who picks the top finisher. If more than one of us pick the winner than we will go down the line (whose second player finished higher, etc). Hopefully we don’t have to go all the way to the tie breaker.
Up for grabs is the same Orlimar driver I offered last time. It seems Murph (he won the first contest) didn’t want it, so it goes in someone else’s collection after next weekend. By the way, I will pay for shipping to US and Canadian addresses. I can’t afford to send it overseas (sorry Gazza et. al.). If someone wins from overseas I will send you a picture of the driver by e-mail. (How lame is that! – hey this is a contest of a limited budget.) It’s all about bragging rights anyway.
I am giving better (earlier) notice this time, so everyone has a chance to participate.
Good Luck,
MoPars

Three of us picked VJ to win (AlanSF, DR BOB, and jtbaker). That means we had to look at the second pick. DR. BOB comes in third, because he picked Daly as #2. Of course Big John didn't make the cut. That leaves Alan and JT. Alan picked Mickelson as number two and Els as number three. JT did picked them exactly opposite (Els #2, Phil Mick #3). So jtbaker wins by a hair. Both Alan and JT picked well. How good was that?
jtbaker, send me a private message with your mailing address, and I will send the driver your way. I think Tim has a DVD for you too. Maybe he will see this post and chime in.
Thanks for everyone's participation. We will try this again for the Masters next year.

Posted - 08/18/2004 : 07:18:01 There are 4 pages of posts and I am too lazy to figure out who won?
Who won any way? I don't Rayser very well but it appears he doesn't pick good dates.
The say if you imprint arush on the club face, the club will not hit any bad shots as he has already taken all of them.

Posted - 08/12/2004 : 20:07:54 The first round is over. You got to feel good if you picked Clark, Els, or Singh.
All of the news articles I read talked about how the long hitters were going to dominate this event, but look closely at the first round leaderboard. It is pretty much dominated by guys with average but accurate length off the tee.
There might be a lesson for us in there somewhere . . . Hmmm.

Posted - 08/12/2004 : 13:27:33 Let's stop the contest now--Daren Clarke is the winner!!! I heard he spent alot of time working on his short game with Stan Utley in preparation for the PGA.
Also saw on TGC where Mickleson spent time with Dave Pelz determining what pin locations would be "go to's" and which ones to stay away from; as well as where to miss it on his approach so it would leave the easiest up and down.
Finally, did anyone see Pelz sink that 72 yard putt on #18 Tuesday night? Yes it was 72 yards--he left his first attempt 50 feet short, sank his second try. Unbelievable!!
Goood luck to all, Steve
