I just discover that some/many of the Cleveland Hibore XL 10.5* drivers are non-conforming. Guess what I play?

I just hung up with Cleveland. Cleveland was checking them to see which of their four foundries made the head. One of them made non-conforming heads. If yours was from another foundry, they engraved the hosel. If it was non-conforming, they sent you a new head. That program IS over. Here's a link to help you tell if yours is non-conforming. If you have the dot on the "H" yours IS Non-conforming. Mine is.

This stinks. I guess it is time to get a new driver.

Do I have to re-pay any winning bets from last year? I suppose the losing Moeniac team will now declare a victory.

Kevin,
The rules are the rules. Team Canada is in.

1. There must be some sort of statute of limitations on a club violation after an event. They didn't take Sosa's home runs away did they? I'm learning to live with the fact that I am a cheater and have been for over a year. Maybe I'll start rolling my ball to improve the lie, or use special illegal hot balls...

2. I was fitted by HotStix for the earlier version which I played for almost 2 years. I "upgraded" to the XL on my own.

3. What frosts my rear is that this was pretty quiet on Cleveland part. I've been looking into upgrading to their XLS since it came out. I've searched the net for reviews and information about the Hibore XL and XLS. I never heard anything about this non-conforming stuff until this week when they started selling the non-conforming models as non-conforming. That's right. You can walk into Golfsmith and buy the club as non-conforming for less money and get that little extra edge. Anyone want to buy mine?

4. I bought a new driver (XLS 9.5 neutral) Tuesday night and played it yesterday. I needed a lower loft anyway. Well hit it only goes about 180. (just kidding.)

Dearest Chuck:

Thou shouldst read thy rulebook more carefully.

The penalty for making a stroke with a non-conforming club ... is a DQ

We will now sing "Oh Canada", wave the Maple Leaf, and rejoice in victory.

Wells,
Actually ,Tim was your teams leader, but not ours.Todd was our team leader, and I believe he already gave you his answer in person. Also,Steve let the cat out of the bag that you guys bogied the last hole and were two shots behind anyway. Finally, since you are such a good friend of mine as most of your other team mates are as well,I offer the following sage advice.Study the Graves Golf instruction, practice very hard, and you will all discover that it is far more satisfying to swing your golf clubs well than the awqward waving of a rule book that doesn't apply anyway.

Good luck with that.Your friend and fellow MOENIAC,

Chuck

Guys,
Tim needs to have some input here. I think our team was tied with your team. There is a lot of confusion even though that putt Chuck made is still in question (at least according to our leader Tim). Who would dispute his call. Now that Russ was using non-conforming clubs casts a deep shadow on the reported scores from his team. We need a final decision from the scoring guru. Who won this match? I say Tim's decision is final, and Tim, let's hear it. We need closure.

Russ, Maybe you're not as long as all the Moeniacs thought!! LOL. Didn't you go through a fitting process with Hot Shots (?) when you bought that driver? Did they build it for you? Supposedly, technology changes enough every two years that it is good to replace the driver that often. Maybe they will do a no charge fit for your replacement; it may be beneficial with your improved Moe swing?

Gee, never saw that coming.

Vinnie,
I am so sorry,it must have been so traumatic for you to watch that brilliantly stuck putt bury center cup for the win on 18.It was a magnificent site to behold,so pure it rolled,so true to it's line with perfect speed.Next time you get down,I might even give you a lesson.

Always wondered how you hit it so far on # 1 that fateful day. Just for clarification, we never were the losing team, and I guess this SECOND rules violation really clears things up :). Chin up Russ, I'm sure you will do just fine with legal clubs, and hey, you have the perfect excuse to get the latest & greatest. V
