I have ordered the advanced training kit and am anxious to make the switch.

My question is; I have recently purchased Callaway Fusion Irons and wonder if the lie angles can be adjusted on them?

Wow I am impressed with the response. This network of people who play Moe's swing are wonderful.

My Fusion irons and woods were fitted to me for my current swing by the top guy in Sacramento. My question was generated by reading and watching the videos on this site. Since I will stand further from the ball I assumed that I would need a flatter lie. I guess I will wait until I get the advanced training kit to see if I really need them adjusted. I will receiv kit on Christmas day and will head for the range. I am excited to try your instruction.

Tim, Thanks for the reassurance that if I do need a lie adjustment I will be able to do it to my new irons.

Thanks again to all who answered my question

This is for everyone - (and to answer your question).

Your clubs need to be fit to YOU - your height vs. arm length, etc..
Each club should be specifically fit to you - for length, lie angle, shaft flex, grip size, etc.. A "standard" club fits no one.

Couple examples:
I am 5 ft 10 inches, wrist to floor 35 inches.
Hand size - ML glove size
Swing speed: 115 / 120 mph (hit 6 iron 180)

Recommended:
5 iron: 38.25 graphite, 37.75 inches steel, stiff flex shaft, Mid size grip +3 wraps below upper hand, +1 below lower hand (at biggest), 5 iron lie angle: 60* (if standard 62* - that is 2* flat), etc..

You can get your specific fittings (free) by submitting your measurements on our website at: http://swinglikemoe.com/index.php?customernumber=561953036840&pr=Free_Club_Fitting&=SID

I'll be as tactful as possible - needing a more upright lie angle in your club to swing like Moe is BS...... think about it - we stand further from the ball than conventional golf. The further you stand and the longer your club the FLATTER you need the lie angle. Moe's clubs were actually 2 1/2 to 3* flat of today's standards....

Yes, the Fusion irons can be adjusted. Great clubs (highest technology on the market). Should not be a problem.

Glen,

To beat the issue even more...

If you are new to the swing, I'd get fit mostly based on static measurements since you wish to learn the swing correctly. If your clubs fit you the way you are supposed to swing, you have a better chance of not adding compensations to your swing as you learn.

Once your swing is largely were you think it may stay, I'd lean much more on dynamic measurements like dirt lines and launch impact boards.

I know my clubs fit the swing I want to have because Tim fit me. I use the dirt marks to check my swing and not my club fit. If I'm coming in toe first, I know I should change my swing, not my club.

Send GGA your measurements and they will make sure your current clubs are right or they can point you toward clubs that will get you on this path toward Moe's swing.

Glenn,
To add to what Rusty said, your clubs need to fit you based on your measurements.A few ways to tell is to get some lie angle tape and check your marks your clubs make.Or check the dirt line across your irons grooves. If the angle is right the dirt line will be parrallel to your groove line.Just go find a muddy spot and hit some shots.

Welcome to the site. You will find a lot of friendly and mostly wise help here.

Glenn--Why do want to change the lie angles? Tim can help you know if you need any change based on a few measurements (see club fitting section of the GGA web site -- click "home" above). Many/most of us use standard lie angle clubs.
