Hey all,

Wanted to let everyone know that Tim will be teeing off on Thursday @ 1:50pm on the Shenendoah course for the 1st round, and 8:50am on the Atunyote Course for the second round.

Here's a link to the website for the tourney:

Best of luck to Tim from the Academy staff!

One note of clarification on Hick's post was that Paul Pejackas (Tim's playing partner the first two days) actually played in the Sr. PGA and US Senior Open and missed both cuts by one stroke. A good, good player with a "handsy" swing, ala Chi Chi Rodriguez (he ended even for the day, +2 for the tournament and missed the cut.)

Regarding course management--the 9th green (Tim's 18th on Friday and he's within the cut line) is protected on the right side by a huge, steep, ugly bunker with the pin tucked behind it. Tim's drive is left, in the rough, plenty short of the fairway bunker on that side. Stan, Hick and I are walking on the left side toward the green as Tim comes by and says "There was no way I was going right". A sure bogey or double was possible from the right, green-side bunker whereas if you avoided the left fairway bunker there was a clear, unobstructed approach to the green from that side. Tim ran up a 5 iron from 215, two putted for par and made the cut with a stroke to spare. That was a perfect examnple of playing the hole from the green back to the tee.

Hi All: Just my take on Tim's Friday round @ the Atunyote course @ Turning Stone Resort & Casino...The boy can PLAY! As Steve B. said, the greens are young and not receptive to shots. They need a few more years maturation, and some watering. Basically a wide open course..typical resort course wide fairways, large greens some water. I think it played about 7,300 yards if memory serves me. Anyway Tim was crushing his drive in the 300-330 yard range often outdriving his playing partners by 20 yards...all very good PGA professionals. One, Paul Pejackas, missed qualifying for the PGA Senior championship by 1 stroke as well as another national championship...1 stroke. I was thinking to myself as I was walking with Stan & Steve about the level of golf, and then I thought about the level of golf on the PGA Tour...just awesome ball striking! The one thing I took away from following Tim's group was they all were thinking ahead ...putting their next shot in the most advantageous position. Their course management skills were superb. It was like a chess match on a BIIIIIG board. All in all a great day.Had the pleasure of meeting Tim's wife and son Triston. He's into soccer right now,but in a few years????might be seeing him at a BYGC.If there's a Pro tournament within a 100 miles of you,do yourself a favor and go see it.As they say..These guys are good! Gotta go rent an ark or build one.Hick

Tim,
In my humble opinion it takes a lot of moral courage to do what you did. It would be easy to be just another teacher, I love and deeply respect the fact that you are willing to "go into combat" with what you are teaching us. This is leading from the front, not being an armchair quarterback, or a behind the lines general. It gives me (and I think us) a goal to shoot for. Thanks again and congratulations.

Ditto what Dan said.

Tim finished at +3 for the day and the tournament. At the end of his round he is currently tied for 53rd place after a total of 312 entries and a cut of the top 92. Not to shabby for our personal hero.
It looks like a bit of a rough start with a double on the first and a bogey on the 3rd set him back to start.
He rallied for birdies at 5, 7 and 8 to pull even on the front but 3 bogeys on the backside put him at plus 3 for the total score of 291.
I can't wait to hear his experiences of the sunday butterflies. And on what he thought he could have done better if anything.
Just so you know Tim, we're all real proud of you for doing what you love to do, and taking us all along for the ride. I bet I can speak for most of the folks here who would say that your tournament was the most talked about thing in each of our lives this past weekend. Which either makes us real fans or just plain old folks with no lives of our own. ha ha.
If teaching the game to student were part of the tournament you'd have shot a 59. Thanks again for letting us into your head a little bit on what a pro goes through as he prepares and plays in a tournament. I'm betting that this is one of your Majors and high up on your must play events so it means that much extra to you and with that we can use your insights to help us with our own "majors" like club ,city, flight, or what ever tournament it is for us.
Your still teaching us as you apply your skills to this weeks event and on what we can do to help give us our best chance for success. I can't wait to hear your insights.
We understand your need to compress after the tournament so no need to rush into the forum, rest, relax, gather your thoughts and feelings bout the whole thing and digest it.
We'll be here when your ready, Great job pal. Dan

Man it was killing me today not being able to watch or follow it. I "had" to go to a union scramble tournament. My union bought the tickets and I was one of the lucky ones they chose to represent our local. I kept thinking all day about Tims' round and how he was doing. It also helped me to concentrate and make sure I didn't miss his round which I may have seen on TV to do this tournament.
I just saw on The Golf channel that they are going to replay it at 130 am. So I'll be able to see it anyway, plus I have an xtra $200 in my pocket to boot. Pretty good day, I'd say.
Go get em Tim, I'll see your 3rd round tonight and then I'll catch your sunday flourish tommorrow.
You thought I'd be jealous about your wedge grinds from Sdotty, I'm really jealous about being able to make a sunday finale.
Keep it going and no matter what your allready a winner to all of us students you;ve helped give new hope to. Thanks,DAN

Tim, I think that this would come from Baldelli, Ron and myself. If looking at your stats, your game is there. On Sunday, take your A-game out there. Keep striking the ball the way you have been and you now have a great familizaration of the course.

Keep hitting them straight and keep your short game there.

Much luck for you on Sunday.

PS: It was great the talk to you on Friday and meet your wife and son.
