I have found out that Tim has qualified and will be playing in the upcoming Nationwide event in Ft. Smith Arkansas. It is the Rheem Classic at the Hardscrabble Country Club. Dates are May 8 - 14.

Please join me in encouraging Tim and hopefully through this post some of us will be able to make it to cheer him on in the gallery.

Go TIM!!!! Take it to 'em.

He wasn't on at all on Friday. I watched that coverage from start to end.
On Thursday, he started on 10 at 2:10pm. By the 12th hole all the cameras had covers over them. So, only 10 & 11 are possibilites. So - it's highly doubtfull. Didn't make the weekend coverage - so no footage there. Sorry - it's kind of bad news.

Did Tim get on any day, I recorded all four days but would like to go right to one of the days he was on. So if you can help my telling me were about on the first part or the end of a day so I can have it on my Puter thanks.

BTW - nobody missed anything on the Golf Channel coverage - they gracefully skipped around Tim's group and the group in front of them. I didn't see a single frame of coverage on Friday (didn't scan Thursdays too much since I was there and they had already put away the cameras by the time I noticed any of them).

You had several of the same entries on this one too. :) I fixed them. No problem..

Hey Doc; quit hitting the ENTER button!

Tim- please play in as many as you are invited to; let us brag to our buddies that one of the instructors of the way we play is playing BIG_TIME Golf!

I forgot to thank you Frisco. As I was reading your post I was so glad there was some sort of play by play to look at. I would have been going nuts wondering about it. Thanks alot, you provided a great service with that post.

Man I'm so mad I've been missing in action from the site and wasn't able to catch the action on the golf channel.
Tim You don't need us to tell you how much we root for you when you go to any tournament. As you can see how long this thread is and all the folks wishing heaps of good fortune on you.
Congratulations for makeing the the field in the first place and considering how your "tournament" game is hardly in shape with all the side stuff you do, like running a business for instance. You showed them you have it, it just needs polishing.
You know you have the game, and we hope you will accept the other invites ,even if its just for your own fun. If you in fact consider it fun. If its a drag on your body and heart then just continue to enjoy your teaching like you and the rest of us do.
But if its something you can enjoy doing part time and not giving it the 100% attention it would need to succeed at then we all will continue to root for one of our own. I'm not telling you to give up your day job, just to enjoy the few oppurtunities that have been offered.
Go to the tourney's with Todd if possible, and gain all the insight you can as you try to have fun. This insight will be just one more tool in your teaching tool box you can use for the rest of your life helping the next generation of single axis students who will be good enough to make the next step.

Think how much you can help your high school kids with the experience you gain in these things.
Besides , anyone whoever laced em up can tell you that you never learn anything if you win the event anyway. Its only when you lose that you learn a bit more. Mostly about yourself but much that can be spread onto your students. And by students of course I mean ME!!. Congratulations on your playing success, we all wish we could have stood in your spikes this week.
I'll see you in a couple weeks at Fox Hopyard and you can tell me all about it while its still fresh. Thanks bud, we all consider you and Todd as part of our "family." And If you started winning all these things then who the heck are we gonna turn to for all our short game needs?

I mean jeez, is all you think about YOU? Ha Ha. Good job bud and I'll see you in a couple weeks. Dan

Tim,
I gotta go with Marty, who ever said that life is fair.As a dear departed mentor of mine used to preach to me :"Chuck ,to truly succeed in life is simple, whenever it gets too tough for everyone else it should be just right for you."

I believe you got the game and the heart, betcha you can't prove me wrong.I can't wait to see you try.

Your Fan,

Chuck

Tim:

If I may be so bold, I must respectfully disagree. Having gone this route in the shooting sports, and reached and competed with the best in the world along with running my own shooting school, I know firsthand that I am a better instructor for having gone against the best, even if I never was competative against the top 10 or so. (top 20-30, yes).

You see, the pressure you feel when competing on the Nationwide Tour would be equal to one of us competing in our club championship, and the lessons learned on the course by you would be very beneficial to share with your students.

To be the best, you gotta push and push, fail, fail, succeed and fail again.

In addition, if the golf Gods shine upon you and you start winning national tourneys, well, there is nothing that would compare to the positive effect it would have on GGA.

Lastly, you will NEVER have this opportunity again in your lifetime. You can teach forever, but if you are this close to being a touring pro, you gotta go for it.

Your willingness to put your skills and the reputation of GGA out in the competitive arena is the best thing you could do for GGA. AND, you are a great inspiration to your students.

Hope I didn't offend with this post, but I have been there, and done exactly what you are facing, and it is worth the effort.

Tim and Todd,
thanks for this insight and the courage to walk the walk. You guys have given so much to those of us who are just trying to get a decent golf game that it must be frustrating at times, to see what could be. Hope you do continue to play in tournaments, it is a goal for some of us too. Great job, and continue the journey. Thanks again!

Yeah, I second what Frisco said. On a side note, I was thinking about that yesterday when I was watching your score real time on thegolfchannel website. I was thinking if you are able to shoot even par (close to it) and don't play as much as these guys then I wonder how well you would do if you could dedicate as much time as those other players do. I know the top players play and practice full time and you and Todd have a business to run, so that is not really feasible. So it's either spend all your time with the school and make it the best you can (which is what is happening now) or spend a minimal amount of time with the school to get more serious as a professional player (not sure if this is what you want). At any rate, it was fun to have a single axis person participating in an event. I hope that you are able to find a compromise as it's important for us to have the best instruction, but also a lot of fun to see our own participate in these events.

Well, I for one enjoyed the experience of being your gallery on Thurday. I know that you didn't do as well as you'd have liked to, but I also know that the conditions and some of the pin placements were pretty insane for the conditions. I very selfishly hope that you take up the challenge of more events so that I can go watch you again. I thought you handled the conditions and yourself extremely well. I am also sure that you wish you'd scored better - even more than I was willing you to do so.
It was just an awesome experience for me to see you play in tournament conditions. I have a newfound respect. You Rock!!!

Will reply more later - on the way to a baseball tournament right now...

#1 - Todd is a very good caddie - actually reads putts much better than I gave him credit for...

#2 - My biggest issue was this was my 2nd and 3rd competitive rounds for the year... I (and Todd) could see a huge difference even between Thursday's and Friday's round. By the end of the round on Friday the gallery was yelling "go in" when I was hitting irons at the flag... was a good feeling, but little too late...

#3 - Most of the players on the Nationwide tour have had 30 to 40+ competitive rounds already under their belt this year... big disadvantage to anyone who only plays in one or two... saw this with myself and a few others in the same position as myself.

I have been invited in a few others... not sure if going to play yet... not really fair (to myself.. and my caddie...) to teach full time and try to play against the best part time.... we'll see....

Will talk more later,

Tim
