I am shipping the Moe DVD today. The video shows Moe in a clinic. He is about 30 pounds lighter than the Golf Digest photos and his swing is classic young Moe Norman. More range of motion and he is swinging very fast. When you receive the video, I would like to start a discussion.

Thanks.

Todd

Thanks, Todd. Look forward to receiving both my "Total Game Overview" and Moe clinic DVD. Also can't wait to attend one of the schools - looking like late June or early July.

I will check and send you the Moe Clinic DVD. Thanks.

Mr. Graves,

I'm a recent convert to the single axis - perhaps the only one in Singapore or SE Asia ?? People here are continually asking about my "strange" swing as they see me poke it straight and long - they are obessed with the "beautiful" swing here more than the results. Anyway, i just signed in this past week and ordered the Total Game Overview DVD. When i go back to US for annual visit, i want to arrange for one of your 3 or 5 days schools. If you have any more CD left, i would like to purchase. Do you have my CC and adress information ? thanks

For me Moe is Moe but the most interesting is that Graves bro and the staff. can transale his swing to my level AND that I understand and can use this knowledge every week. It take me a trip to florida to understand the swing after 5 years NG, Thanks Lille-Bror

Once you understand this basic, the second base position becomes a normal routine, after impact.

Interesting about "breaking the tee". I just switched to NG last summer, but for all of my years of playing, I have been a "sweeper" and take very few divots. On driving, I often used the same tee over and over until a ball would not sit on it, having chipped the edges away, but seldom breaking it.

First off thanks so much for making this video available great stuff. The first thing that caught my attention as I was watching this is how well balanced moe is throught out the whole video no matter what type of shot or club he was hitting, his balance is awesome. secondly how soft his legs are going through the swing it looks almost like he has very soft flexible springs in his legs.

Some comments he made really caught my attention.
1. his elbows leads the swing
2. the heel of the club head leads the club not the toe
3. swinging the club like a ferris wheel
These 3 comments moe made is really helping me see and understand the swing better.

one question I have is the length of his clubs, I know that moe chokes down on the club a lot so what would the actual length of his club be from where his hands actually holds the club, in the beginning of the video I believe he was hitting a 3 iron but the length the way he was holding it would look more like a 6 or 7 iron length, also his driver length looked very short.

I found this forum after talking with a guy at the range a few weeks ago. I ordered the Moe DVD because ever since I moved to Toronto in 1993, I've been fascinated with his swing and his legend.

I received the DVD a couple of days ago and couldn't wait to see it. I have some of the other videos produced more recently but nothing from the era caught on the DVD. I just gotta say, the DVD is pure gold. Sure the production quality isn't perfect, the camera's zoom motor is annoying and there seemed to be some in the crowd who were trying to needle Moe but seeing Moe's swing and hearing his explanations before he had been Golf Digested and Golf Channeled was truly awesome.

Coincidentally I had just incorporated a swing thought in a previous range session that seemed to help me control the clubface. I imagined a left-handed topspin backhand to hit a draw (I'm right handed) and a left-handed cut backhand to hit a fade. I also realized that I needed to grip the club much tighter with the last three fingers of my left hand. After watching the DVD, I realized that the 'cut backhand' swing seemed to accomplish keeping my hands in bounds and also kept the heel infront of the toe. Hearing Moe say he was trying to draw blood made me feel that my grip pressure in my left hand was on the right track.

Another thing on the DVD that was golden was seeing Moe hit balls using the 'conventional' swing. Seeing the master juxtaposing both swings was awesome and really made it easy to conceive some of the swing differences. It also made it easier to reconcile the topspin backhand swing with the cut backhand swing.

Anyways, at the range tonight (Launch, for those familiar with the GTA), I decided to try to incorporate my impressions of what Moe did in his swing with my 'cut backhand' swing. The amazing thing was, 'swinging the handle', 'keeping the heel ahead of the toe', 'keeping the hands inbounds', 'swinging under myself', and extending down the target line all combined to create the distinctive leg motion and even a bit of that to-the-target follow through.

I could go to the topspin backhand swing to gain extra clubhead speed and a draw flight at will but the apparent consistency of Moe's way seemed very, very comforting.

I hope it lasts more than just one range session but I think I'm hooked and it's all because that DVD is really remarkable.

Thanks for making it available, even to newbies who weren't already students of yours or members of this forum!

Thanks for the help Todd. I guess it is hard for me to compare because the camera angle doesn't allow me to truly see Moe face on.

If any of you are REALLY going to improve and swing like Moe I would recommend one thing....LOOK AT YOURSELF can compare yourself to MOE. Then.....Change what doesn't match. I say this because when I observe spine tilt, it does not mean that you need to lean to the right, it means that it must be present. The spine tilted to the right is a result of correct arm position...it is a function of all of the rest of it..grip, address, hand position etc. If you are leaning too much to the right, I would ask, Is it different than MOE? Remember, we are looking at a Model here and we are simply matching a model.

Secondly, if you grip the club correctly, you will feel pressure in the last thre fingers of the lead hand. There is pressure here...and it is important..You should still be able to hinge the wrist correctly.

Hey all!

Well I finally got around to making a few comments about the DVD, hopefully these are valid points and will create a little more conversation because there is a lot of info to digest on this DVD.

First off that one guy who kept trying to egg on Moe really annoyed me, a couple of times he said stuff like "that was out of bounds Moe!" when Moe was clearly demonstrating how NOT to hit it well. What a putz.....ok now that i have that off of my chest here goes.

I really only have two questions/comments that i would like TGGS to address.

1, It wasn't a true face on view of Moes swing but from what i could tell Moe really didn't have a spine angle to the trail side. I was under the impression that I needed to be leaned to the trail side to "keep behind the ball". You should have viewed my video i sent in by now so maybe you addressed it there but i really saw Moe NOT keeping behind the ball.

2, Moe talks a couple of times about "drawing blood" with the last three fingers on the lead hand in reference to grip strength. I really struggle to not grip the club too tight because a really tight grip reduces my swing speed. How do you "draw blood" and yet keep supple enough to swing freely?

Keep up the great work TnT and thanks for all your help.

I like it when Moe is demonstrating his leg action.. That he never gets off his left side. It looks as tho he is using his right leg to drive everything else toward the target. I also like his descriptions of what he feeels is happening..Great stuff

Todd -- I would like to withdraw my request for the Moe DVD. A friend has offered to loan his copy to me for a brief viewing.

Thanks, Allen Garber

Todd - do you have any left-handed versions remaining? I sent you an email requesting same some time ago. Thank you

Todd -- I hope I'm not too late. I would appreciate receiving a Moe DVD. I believe all my mailing stats are on file.

Thank you, Allen Garber
