Folks, it's that special time again to hold another on-line tournament (Fall Moe Classic). I will explain what this is again for those of you that were not part of the forum when we did this several months ago.
The purpose of the on-line tournament is to give folks that don't live close to each other the opportunity to play in a tournament with other Single Axis golfers. There are so many people in this forum that participate that live all over the US and outside of the US and we though it would be fun to coordinate and activity we can all participate in.
Here are the formats we had before - Single man events (handicap based) 2 man scramble 4 man scramble
* In order to keep things as fair as possible we agreed to slect courses that met a specific slope and rating criteria. From what I recall, we had participation from 3 chapters and about 12 to 15 individuals that participated in the single man events.
Please reply to this thread if you are interested in participating in this event. Most likely we will probably shoot for end of October or so to have event so we have a little more than 30 days to plan.

| I live north of Chicago, and would love to get together with SA players. Scramble, etc, would be fine. |

I'm interested....I live on St. Simons Island, Georgia. About an hour north of Jacksonville, Florida and an hour and a half south of Savannah. My course is 6000 yards, 69.9 rating, 129 slope from the member tees (whites).

MoJo:
I would prefer to see a best ball, as opposed to a scramble. The main reason, is that a scramble takes longer, and trying to do this playing in a foursome on a public course can create some problems with slow play.
The reason that the scramble take slonger, is that everyone has to find thier ball, consult on the best shot to use, then set up and take the shot.
I would also consider handicapping the teams, so everyone has a fair chance. |

Not sure what best ball is.
I don't think Scramble really takes any time at all. In most situations, it would be obvious what the best ball would be (at least from the tee). |

Best ball is that everyone plays their own ball, and write down the best score on the card of the four playing.
Regarding slow scramble play, I just know the last time we were playing it, we were being pushed by four ladies over 60 carrying their own bags!!! |

Sounds good folks, I think we have enough interest to begin planning this event. I will start workign with Averagolfer to finalize the dates for the events along with the format. WE can problably agree on a date by end of week and by end of next week we should have the formats complete.
Iron man - Sounds good, you can either job our California Chapter on our event or play the single man if you are interested in that. |
